Lindy Underground - A new dance movement - Flashmob and social dance
Saturday, February 4 and EVERY FIRST SATURDAY at Dance Starz AZ
One of the most exciting nights is coming to Phoenix. A new
studio, a new swing night. We start off the evening with a
Flashmob lesson open to everyone (no partner needed), then a brief swing
dance lesson and then open dancing to great Swing DJs playing vintage
swing music from the 30's and 40's -
just pure swing music that is inspiring for Lindy hop and East Coast
Swing.

Join the Arizona Lindy Hop Society for an exciting four week course that
will have you on the dance floor feeling more confident and having fun.
Lindy Hop is the original dance that was done to swing music in the late
1920's and remained popular through the 1950's.
12:30 pm: Lindy Hop Fundamentals - Block B (3pm on weeks 2-4)
2:00 pm: Balboa (4:30pm on weeks 2-4)
NOTE: The first week is a special start time due to SuperBowl
Sunday.
The rest of the classes will be at 3pm and 4:30pm for weeks 2-4.
Sign up at the door on first day. Drop ins welcome for week 1. No partner needed.
New 4 week courses start the first Sunday of each month.
NEW STRUCTURE: These classes are progressive and we ask that you
commit to all four weeks. If you cannot make it on week 1, please start

Tuesday, February 14 at FatCat Ballroom
Join us for a great night of dancing at FatCat. Kenny Love has been
around the Rockabilly, Boogie Woogie, and swing music scene for years
and they play great songs for dancing. Music from Elvis, Jerry Lee
Lewis, Gene Vincent, and lots more! This night will be a 1950's
style sock hop. You do not need a date, just come out and enjoy a
great night of dancing with friends!!!

10. Dance Etiquette:
"Demeanor on the Dance Floor"
People who come out social dancing are not usually there to win contests
or impress people watching, they are there to have fun. A great
way to make dancing fun for you and others is to be personable, smile,
and make eye contact with your partner. Try to project a warm and
positive image on the dance floor, even if that is not your personal
style. Many of us lead hectic lives that include a difficult balance
between study, work, family, and other obligations. Having a difficult
and tiring day, however, is not an acceptable excuse for a depressing or
otherwise unpleasant demeanor on the dance floor. Because of the setting
of a social dance, we do not always dance with our favorite partners.
This is also not grounds for a cold treatment of the partner. Once one
asks or accepts a dance, it is important to be outwardly positive.
