He won a Tony Award in 1989 for his choreography in Black and Blue and has been featured in films of the 1930's, 40's and 50's (including Hellzapoppin' - see video). 5. Lindy Exchanges / National & International Events
A lindy exchange is where a host city holds a series of dances and events at a low price and typically offers housing though local hosts. They are a great way to meet lindy hoppers all around the world, see new cities for very little money, and experience different lindy hop scenes. Lindy Hop is a sub-culture phenomenon all around the world and a great way to meet and connect with people everywhere.

6. What's on the Web?
Each month we will offer you some web videos that are making their way around the world.  These are a great cure for office boredom (to watch only on your lunch break, of course).  Sometimes these will have to do with dance but other times, the links will take you to places you may not have been.  Enjoy.

Hellzapoppin' Contest in NYC:
One of my favorite clips of all time. This one is from 2004 and was filmed from the Balcony so you can see the action. Some of the best dancers in the world came together for this contest.  They dance incredibly fast for seven minutes straight.  The winners of the contest were Minn and Corina (in all white).

7. Dance Etiquette: "Unsolicited Teaching on Dance Floor"
This is unfortunately one of the more common breaches of dance etiquette. This often happens when a dancer stops in the middle of a song to correct his or her partner, or tell them how to execute a dance figure. Ironically, this error is often committed by individuals who are not fit to teach! Experienced social dancers dance at the level of their partners. Even for experienced dancers, the social dance floor is not the place to teach or to correct your partner. It is better to concentrate on patterns that both partners can do and enjoy. Unsolicited teaching can be humiliating and takes the fun out of dancing. If someone starts to teach you and you would rather them not, you can politely say, "I'm just here to dance right now."

8. Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey
“It's easy to sit there and say you'd like to have more money. And I guess that's what I like about it. It's easy. Just sitting there, rocking back and forth, wanting that money."
